Mu woke up from a dream. There was darkness and a golden light hovering above him before it can fade. The last thing he remembered is his home. Faces and voices his people and friends lingered in his dream before he manages to wake up. The Dreams faded and disappeared from his consciousness.
When he came too, he heard the sound of water dripping, echoing against the walls of the cave. He opens his eyes and finds that everything is dark. The only light came from the quartz and bio-luminescent algae. The air is stale and dank. It struck him slowly that he has awakened in a cave. How did he get here?
Once he regains his senses, he starts walking. Searching for a way out through the long tunnels, narrow and dark. He's determined that once he makes it outside, he'll make it his mission to find answers. Mu is armed with a sword in one hand. Being more strategetic, he finds it better to leave the wild worm-like beasts that he encounters on the path alone rather than provoke for a fight with his sword until at last, he figured out a way to reach the boats.
Out of the caverns, the boat traveled down the stream until it reached what seems like civilization. A city with buildings has been carved out of huge stone spires. The city is called Aefenglom.
When he steers the boat at the end of the stream, in a lake, he docked right next to a marketplace, with many small boats docked. The market place is full of wares and food for sale. Monsters and Witches mingled on the streets together as he has discovered, and being a human, he discovered he is a witch, though with powers latent.
Being a stranger in this part of the city, he gains strange looks for having no monster by his side. He's a Witch unbounded. He was approached by a group of young monsters, offering their protection, offering their preposition, and demonstrating their various talents.
"I'm not bonded yet. I can't go anywhere without your protection...?"
Everything felt like a nightmare to her from when she woke up. First she was in a scary cavern and then, she found her legs were gone. Only to be replaced by a long pure white tail with gold ringlets dancing in a pattern down it. Everything felt strange and different and the only comfort she had was that she still had her hair and wings.
The caves were too cold and dark, she needed to find someplace warmer. Keeping mainly to herself and doing her best to stay out of sight of the wryms and their eggs. She was hungry but not for the eggs, she still had her pride as a Heron!
It took her a while to find her way out and into the sun. The sun felt so good to her and she slithers down to the boat to take her into the strange city. She was questioning the boatman, all the while, trying to keep her tail and extra scales hidden with her dress. There was no luck with that but it didn't take them long to arrive.
Upon entering the city, she found herself jealous of all the people who still have legs. Why? Why Ashurea did she have to change into a whole new creature here? She wanted to weep and go on a pity party. The only thing that was stopping her was instincts kicking in and she moves to look around the city, trying to find a nice warm spot to sun herself.
Only to be stopped by the sight of a human male being surrounded by monsters. She goes to slowly move closer to hear what was being said. She goes to let out a hiss though as she hears the word, "bonded" and looks away in shame. The ferry man did tell her about it and how she should become bonded before the next full moon.
She isn't the only one who offers aid and protection. The monsters were offering too because he's a witch unbonded. It was overwhelming that he doesn't what to do, other than to respectfully decline, having no plan to agree to such a bond or knowing what to do with it. He can sense their sincerity and concern, however, and they explained why a bond is important, to offer as a balance to their magic.
When it comes to Leanne, with the other monsters, he tries to gently shoo them away. "I don't know what you can offer to aid me. Nothing comes to mind. I don't even know if I'm a witch or wizard as they call me. I have never been one. But thank you kindly."
But after thinking about, the answer to her question. "But it's hot in the marketplace and I would like some water."
"Basically, from what I know, Witches and Monsters have a different kind of magic. When they bond, they balance each other's energies, so it doesn't go haywire."
Unlike the others, she's the one who can sense where the water is, so he follows after her through the crowd. The market is hot and humid, and ever since his arrival, fresh water and food is all he wanted, once he figure out the currency and money in this world.
"You can find it? Water? You have my thanks."
Her senses will take her to a community well, free for all to drink.
Seeing the clean water, in appreciation, he kneels over, cupped his hands, and drinks. Then briskly washed his face to clean off the dirt and grime. While not ideal, it's good to have fresh water for a start.
"I don't know, I need to find a coven and if they have a library to figure out how the bond works. But if my guess is right, it means if I don't form a bond with a monster, I won't be able to use my magic properly."
As he has figured out in the cave that his psychic abilities are too low and he can't summon it properly.
"Oh, you helped me. So I must thank you." He cupped his hands and makes a bow in courtesy. "I am known as Mu."
Leanne watches Mu drink first before getting some herself and greedily drinks some more.
She stops at the title of mnster, frowning a little. It hit a little too close to her and she brings her wings closer to herself.
"I must apologize as I do not know where the Coven is. This is the first I have been here."
She was going to speak more but stops when he speaks again. She finds herself blushing quite a bit.
"I haven't done anything worthy of thanks. I needed water too." So much blushing and she goes to curtsey as much as she can in response to his bow. "It is my highest honor and pleasure to meet you, my lord Mu. I am known as Leanne. "
"Please, don't to worry yourself. I can find the coven. It's where I need to go. It shouldn't be too hard, but it's the advice given when I found out I'm a witch."
He managed to smile back, "Leanne, it's nice to meet you. You're not from around here, aren't you? Did you arrive in the cave just the like other people? Then travel here by boat?"
The world he's found himself in is an ever curious one and the dreams that is shared across all of it's inhabitants is one of the stranger phenomenons. Why does it happen? How does it work? Is it the world itself that is dreaming or the will of another dragging us into their reverie?
This dream had taken them underground, presumably a location that exists somewhere in reality, somewhere has yet to venture to which meant he was in the dark. Literally.
Once adjusted to the dark and silence, he traversed the mysterious cave network slowly. Each step was light and ready to leap forward or jump back at a moments notice for even with the glow of the algae his range of vision was too short. This had soon proven to be a mighty pain in the ass when he walked off the edge of a cave that was too damn high and too damn dark.
The convenient egg sacs of the giant worms had provided him something to cushion his fall (albeit a disgusting landing) but that mean mommy worm wasn't particularly feeling relieved for his safety.
"HEEL! HEEL!"
He bellowed as Bishop ran and the worm gave chase, his voice echoing throughout the various cave systems.
Leanne has been exploring the caves, finally gotten used to her newest form. Her forked tongue kept on tasting the air. She was on the hunt for anything shiny in these caverns and despite her own wishes, was hunting a little for food as well.
Or she was until she was hearing the echos and tilts her head at it. She continues to taste the air to see if she can find the source. The echos were making it difficult to pinpoint but thanks to this strange tongue of her and her eyes is pinpointing a new source of heat in the caves.
She moves towards the source of heat that was lighting up like a bonfire and just stares at the sight before her..... A human being chased.... By a giant worm. She should do something to help him. Ah! Maybe he will have a shiny object for her!
"Over here! Hurry and run over here!" She goes to call out towards Bishop, waving a hand to help him see her better. If push comes to shove, she can always pick him up with her tail to yank him out of harms way the fastest.
He spots the...winged naga? No, most likely a chimera, whatever the case Bishop hauled ass towards her while trying to weave the attacks of the aggravated worm.
"Move! Move! Mo - OH FUCK!" He said while gesturing with his hand to tell her to move aside but the plan derailed as quickly as he had formed it because of a second set of nasty worm teeth descending from a tunnel up on high. Its trajectory was him.
He quickly dodged by changing course, the two worms colliding into a mess while Bishop picked up the pace to gain some distance between them. He also hoped that chimera lady was running away too, the worms might not take too kindly to associate of accidental egg murderer.
She was a naga thank you very much! She was just able to keep her wings from her previous life. It was harder to fly due to the new set of muscles and strength in her.
Leanne watches as he was trying to dodge the attacks of the angry momma worm, only to be nearly devoured by the appearance of a second worm. This man, he seems to be having all the bad luck right now.
She was moving away, just not at a hurried pace until he caught up to her. "There is a river nearby, you can hold unto me and I can carry you away once we reach there. What did you do to get them so angry at you?"
She blinks at his first set of works, turning to look at him, reserving her judgement until his next set of words came out and she felt herself wanting to facepalm.
"It doesn't matter! One or two or a hundred! It was still their child!" It was probably due to her new nature that she was seeing things so black and white.
"You need to run faster or else they can catch up!"
She continues to slither as fast as she can and should they find the river quick, she will have the temptation of pushing him into it to make them move faster.
It's also not his fault the eggs were so pathetically soft. They should follow the example of the ostrich, you need a hacksaw to open those suckers!
"You're telling me!" But there's only so much running will do, he needs to fight back or at least prove that they should keep away. He doesn't want to use his gun(not that it'll have any effect on something that large) so he'll have to use magic. He's been practicing for a while so now seems like a good enough time to use it!
He veers away from her and parallel to the worms, one of which is already untangled mostly and headed towards him with an open maw. Perfect. He comes to a halt and with a bit of focus and a clear image of what he wants, a fire ball the size of his fist appears in his hand which he threw like a knife straight into the worms mouth. It soared quickly through the air and exploded against the side wall causing it halt an write in pain.
"Alright!" He cried as another fire ball appeared along with a ball of what looks to be electricity in the other hand. "Bring it you worms!" That was both and insult and a fact. He's clever.
Well, he should have watched where he was going! Now there was less life in the world!
If she had her previous powers and abilities, she would inquire what an ostrich is and see one of their eggs.
"Where are you going?" What? Just what was he doing when he broke away from her? He is still soft and squishy and she had scales that were harden like armor. She stops in her running in order to watch him veering away from her and then...
Throwing fireballs at them. Yup, this man was a witch. One that either didn't have a bound or was away from their bounded monster. While a part of her had to admire the skills he was showing, she couldn't help but to worry over not only his life but also the worms lives.
She goes to look around in order to try and find a path towards him and goes to take it. While taking the path, she groans at his cleverness before giggling a little. What? It was funny and she was so going to tell it to others once she get out of here. With him in hopefully one piece.
This... This was something that seemed right out of a dream. Almost out of one of her nightmares. Also, it was cold, nothing like the warmth of Serenes. She could not hear it and nature was silent in these caves. Leanne looks around with a hand above her breast as she carefully walks the cave.
It was a little exciting though, she never been so far away from her home before. On one hand, it was frightening as she didn't know where she is, but on the other it was something that she kinda always wanted... An adventure away from her home.
Now, to just be careful around those squishy eggs, she doesn't want to see just what laid those eggs.
There was darkness. Then there was a sound of water dripping from stone and echoing through the massive chamber. He remembered his Goddess, Athena in his dreams. Eventually, when consciousness stir and he becomes awake, he was greeted by towering spires of stone and being in total darkness.
Where in Hades is he? He found himself on his feet, looking around to find dark long tunnels, some wide, some narrow. He wandered aimlessly, trying to figure a way.
What's more, his senses. The ability to sense cosmos. It's gone. He becomes perplexed, but he couldn't think. There's hunger pangs and his mouth is dry, almost like cotton.
In the silence of the caves, he sense someone. A presence. He heard a ruffle of feathers and feet. It was then he noticed the eggs, but he doesn't like the look of them or even the smell. It's too moist and dank down here, and he is wary.
"Hello? Who goes there?" A voice, male, and if that caught Leanne's attention, he is a tall male beorc with long lilac hair and sharp piercing eyes, handling a sword in one hand.
Leanne pauses in her tracks, listening as she swore she heard the sound of a man's voice. Her heart began to pound a little as a brief moment of fear goes through her.
No.... There was no way this could be happening. Her luck, why did this have to happen? She goes to slowly look up and towards the direction of the voice and her whole being freezes in fear.
Maybe, maybe he hasn't seen her and he won't notice her. Despite the fact that she probably stands out like a sore thumb but still, she can hope that he hasn't seen her.
Looking around with what little dim light is in the cave, he finally sees her. A woman's voice. Focusing his vision, he sees what looks like an angel with large downy wings.
Oh shoot.... She was truly spotted. This wasn't good. Nope! Not at all.
"It doesn't seem dangerous. It is rather enchanting." She goes to comment, surprise at the sound of her own voice and also how she can what was going on inside of her. Her eyes idly glance towards his sword and she can feel her heart beat faster as memories of that night came back, memories that Serenes has showed her while she slept.
Is this woman naive? Mu isn't amused. "Enchanting? No. Can you see the size of those eggs? I do not know what hatches out of them. However, this is a cave. This could be a dragon's nest for all I know, so this could be dangerous."
He will not underestimate anything. Looking around, he did not see the parents yet. This can be fortunate at least for now.
"It's not safe to linger here. Did you wake up in here too?"
"Yes, I do see the size of them but as long as we do not pose any harm to them, then we will be safe." She goes to reply and then tilt her head. "...Dragons don't have nests. At least none of the ones I know does."
She goes to spread her wings and has purposely kept her distance from Mu, not wanting to be near the object that has killed so many of her people.
"I did." She goes to blink as his words slowly process. "I take it that you are not from around here?"

"Yes, it's weird that I can taste it at least." This whole thing was weird to her.
She goes to lead him to the community well and sighs. "It's here." She goes to point before bashfully fidgets with a lock of hair.
Now that she was looking at him, he was rather handsome and manly looking with his long hair. At least he would be for a Heron.
She idly looks down at the well and something in her head told her to speak to the water. Speak and it would respond to her.
"Water... May I have some to drink for me and my companion?" She felt a little silly for asking that.
