Take this project they say, it will be an easy A they say. They were to go and live in the woods for a month to study and catalog any unusual finds. Nita had brought along a pet cat she adopted from a rescue shelter, Leanne.
There was a snowstorm going on outside and had been going on for the past couple of days. Leanne was laying on the couch, lazing about, letting her tail sway behind her, doing her best to ignore the howling storm going on outside.
Leanne, she has been here for a few months. She gotten used to the moon cycle and how they changed her. She felt guilty when during such a moon cycle, she mated with a man and then another one. It was as if she couldn't help herself but to do so.
During those moments of mating, she felt like she couldn't get enough and wanted more and more of it.
She was in her kitchen, making tea blends when suddenly there was a loud knock. She recognized that style of knocking and sighs. It was the red-headed neighbor, Asch. Only he had such a distinctive knock. Though he is one that has been matching wits with her. It has gotten to the point of being flirty with him felt natural despite how much he annoys her.
"Coming!" She calls over to him and pretends that she doesn't recognize his knocking and goes to open the door with a surprised expression on her face. "Asch! I didn't expect to see you!"
As the Heron opens the door, he nods silently in greeting. Normally since Leanne actually possesses thick skin, enough to survive his acerbic personality; he's apt to open with it immediately.
Unfortunately though, Asch has also had to deal with the cycles of the moon. This leads to him trying to deal with it alone and when he simply can't, indulging in Sanguis-style violence at the arena. This time however he's found himself in enough misery that he's willing to entertain a familar face.
"Leanne," His voice takes on a cold tone as a greeting, but sighs almost immediately. "I had a favor to ask of you." Which must be serious indeed for him to want to ask.
"Would you. Have dinner--with me?" For emphasis he gestures to the door of his apartment.
She quirks a brow as he not only greets her silently but then speaks coldly. He was quite the violent man and this... What? Just what was going on?
"You just had a favor?" Choice of wording is off but yup, this was a little serious considering how he is coming to her.
What she didn't expect was for him to invite her to dinner! She blinks in surprise and follows where he was gesturing. By now, he has seen almost all sides of her so she felt safe enough to reach up in order to try and touch his forehead....
.... Nope, not sick.
"I guess I could. Should I bring anything with me?"
Giving the Heron just long enough as he guesses she's checking for fever, he brushes her hand away, muttering 'quit it', before tilting his head in question to her response.
Secretly he was both overjoyed and dreading this because it would be harder to keep himself in check and while everyone seemed to be keen on behaving similar to the beasts they partially turned into; he had self-control.
Months of self-control that has worn themselves into exhaustion. "Whatever you want," He replies after a moment.
"I'm...going to go start cooking. Just let yourself in." Needing a moment to steel his nerves, Asch retreats quickly into his apartment, hoping to relieve himself by dicing innocent vegetables with impunity.
She was worried for him and withdrew her hand at the muttering.
A small sigh as there was something wrong with her friend. Something very wrong with him. "I will bring over a tea blend I am working on." All the smiles up and towards him, beaming brightly.
"I will be there soon then, it will take me a few moments." And with that, he was quickly gone. Emerald eyes blink before she goes back into her kitchen to brew some tea. Being extra careful, carrying the tea cups and the teapot with her after a few moments.
This... This was a little weird of him and confusing. She remembers his words to her earlier and goes to slowly open the door. "I am coming in. I have the tea."
The winter air was deceptively cold tonight. The wind blew in a light, but chilly breeze, and fog curled along the ground in thick, wispy tendrils, as though beckoning travelers through the woods; moonlight filtered through the canopy of the trees in silvery beams, cutting through the dark of the night.
The castle in the distance was in disrepair, but it would serve as perfectly good shelter for the evening – in spite of the rumours that surrounded it, of course. No one knew who the master that owned it, and people went missing near it – but with the threat of a blizzard on the horizon, there was little time for Leanne to be picky.
The ultimate question would be... what would she do? Would she brave the elements?
Cold! It was so cold and she wanted nothing more than to find someplace warm! She sees the castle in the distance and frowns a little... It really wasn't in a good state but it looked like it would be better than nothing.
She hurried towards it and goes to try and find where she can enter and get out of the elements. She was silently curing herself for being dumb enough to even want to explore with the threat of a blizzard on neigh. Leanne was confident enough that she could return home before it hit, she just wanted to get out and explore a little.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" She goes to call out, fluffing her wings to try and keep the heat inside.
It all happened in a blink of an eye. She was on her way home from work and the next, a fox suddenly jumped in front of her motorcycle and when trying to avoid him, ended up at least clipping him with it. Thinking quickly and not caring if she would get bit, she hurried to his side to gather him up, carry him to her bike after making sure that doing so wouldn't worsen his condition and speeds off to the nearest vet ER.
She really doesn't want to have accidently killed him. For now the surgery has lasted at least an hour and Leanne was nearly pacing in the waiting room to hear back from the vet. Another couple of hours and it was done. They wanted to keep him overnight to see if any complications pop up during his recovery process and for her to go home and they will let her know when they can come and pick him up.
The next day came and borrowing a van from a friend, Leanne has come to pick him up after she received the phone call in the afternoon.... And then nearly died on the inside due to the bill... Yup, she will be an office lady slave for a long time to fully pay off her bills. Hopefully, it will be worth it.
He's a wild stray fox living out in the forest and wandered in the city. He was out hunting, chasing prey across the road, relying on his hearing and scent. He was blind due to a birth defect, so he nearly has no vision at all, his eyes are clouded white over. Then it happened so fast, that the last thing he heard is a zooming motorcycle. There was pain almost like an instant. For how long he is out cold and comatose with a limp body, he doesn't remember.
The surgery lasted for hours and after the surgery with anesthesia and pain meds, he was wrapped in a cast. The diagnosis is fractured arms, legs, and ribs, and head concussion, and he stays overnight in one of the cages for a few days.
Once he came too, he was a light-weight fox, so when he's being carried over, he smells a human close-by. He's light-headed after being on pain meds and he hobbles with his cast and a headband covering his head, as he's being carried to the van.
Once the cage door opens and he's been told he's going to be a foster pet, "Hello...? Where am I going?" His ears perked, listening to the sound of the human close-by.
When she heard him speak, Leanne just felt even more guilty for causing all of this. With a small sigh as she receives all the paperwork from the vet, including all the aftercare instructions, she looks towards the injuried fox and frowns. "You are gonna come home with me. At least, until you are completely healed. I am sorry."
She closes both the cage and van door. From what it looks like, they will be together for a long time before he fully heals. The cage at least has blankets and a nice overstuffed cushion to make the travel more comfortable for him. Once she climbs into the passenger side and settles down, exchanging a few words with her friend, the friend fires it up and starts driving to Leanne's home.
"Poor guy.... he really got banged up. He is probably scared right now."
"You think? I thought that I only clipped him but... I just hope that he doesn't hold that against me."
"I am sure he won't. But let me know if you need any deliveries for his food. I got plenty over at my place."
"No, you have already done enough for me. I will have to take responsibility for him now."
And the two friends continue to talk, with Leanne looking back towards the caged fox to make sure that he is okay. The poor thing... he must be in so much pain right now.
"Hey little guy... we will be at my place soon enough.... Just hold on for two shakes of a lamb's tail."
He still feels a little woozy from the side-effects of the pain-meds to keep him stable, but he is feeling a sore from the accident a few days ago. He can't move his limbs, but at least his head doesn't hurt anymore.
"Your place? What place? Huh? Okay..." Why is she sorry? With encouragement, he was being scooted into the cage, and he curls up into a ball, tail tucked around his lithe body, ears flattened. He lost weight after not eating properly for days. This is a soft bed and it's warm, so it feels all right and comfortable, especially it's winter with the bitter chill.
He heard the cage door lock and close, the van door closed shut, and the vehicle moves in motion. New sounds that made him tremble a lot, frighten and scared, his ears perked to listen to voices, but didn't make out much.
A gift... she was a gift for some human. But not just any gift. But one that is supposed to receiver her. Their first meeting was rough to say the least. Leanne practically ignored him for the first few days.
But days and weeks goes by and she does eventually grow into her role, though she herself haven't allowed herself to get close to him. Though when a new person arrives, she doesn't stay too far away to make sure he is safe, nor does she ever run away. She will perform these duties to him nothing more, nothing less for as long as she wears the collar around her neck.
He is a traveling priest, tall and skinny, carrying an aura of gentleness and grace, and long black hair. He carries a sword on his back and using a bamboo walking stick to find his way around through town to town.
He often works for free in his services to help poor people from city to city. Sometimes, his patrons give him free food or money as payment. Most of the time, he's been tricked and got ripped off, and because of his disability, he was easily pick-pocketed too that by the end of the day on most days if not weeks, he almost have nothing, so he is hungry on most days and living near sheer poverty, but he is mostly happy and peaceful, accepting his lot in humility.
A patron decided to give him a wolf and the moment she lay eyes on him, she can see he has a blindfold wrapped around his eyes.
"Leanne?" He starts paying attention despite seeing only darkness. Listening to the sound of her feet, taking a guess where she is in the cottage of the home of his house, and blindly search for whatever is given to him. It wasn't easy, going out to the market with a basket on hand and tapping the bamboo pole to search his way through the narrow alleys.
When customers came to his home, some are honest and leave exact change or sometimes less than he asked for, but some would take more money or food from the kitchen in broad daylight while he smiles at that, always helpful, and ask them to come again.
Thieves... She knew of them and how they worked. Out in the wild they were more dangerous than the human ones. She heard him call for her but very rarely answers. Why should she? He was the human she was given to like she was a mare object. There was no way that she would ever see him as a part of her pack.
But, whenever he went to the market, she would follow, watching from a few steps behind him. Whenever someone was brazen enough to pick-pocket from him, well lets just say that it will be a while before they will gain the courage to pick-pocket again.... And the ability to as sometimes, she will bite off a finger. Once she retrieves the stolen items, she will come back to Xingchen with a sigh usually with a sharp bark of, "Keep a better grip on this. You can't keep having your things stolen."
When it happens at him, it was always more annoying as now, these thieves dared to do it on her turf. Even if Xingchen forgives them, she doesn't and would follow them, hunting them down to retrieve the stolen money. Food, food she will let them keep as she will just hunt to bring home her kill for him to eat.
This day, the thief decided to steal both food and money and before Xingchen could stop her, she was out the door, chasing and hunting the thief down. She caught up to him faster this time around and despite the stab wound, chased him off after getting the food and money back. Opening the door to the cottage, the wolf lets out a small sigh and walks up to Xingchen.
"You need to stop being so forgiving. No wonder you are so skinny." She feels herself starting to fuss over him a little, moving to put the money back into his hands before heading to the kitchen.
He is still kind to her anyway, making sure she is fed as well as he is, even if she doesn’t feel like responding, but he sense her nearby. It wasn’t easy living together, forming a bond, and making a living to make ends meet by the end of the week.
When he’s out in the street in the market, he can sense her when she’s close-by by hearing the sounds of her steps and her voice, following closely behind. It’s a good thing he doesn’t see her methods of punishment as she retrieved his stolen goods, and often felt embarrassed. “Oh thank you.” He knew he has his own blindness to blame, so he accepted it when people stole from him, it’s almost felt normal and cruel that people take advantage of his disability.
He always smiles, forgiving the thieves and greedy customers, but at the same time, worried for her too. Even if he can’t see, he can feel how hard-working she is. “They need it more than I do, feeding their families. Let them go and keep it.”
When he heard her came back, rubbing the back of his head, “Leanne, I’m sorry.” He realized they’re always hungry all the time, and part of it, he’s so generous to give his food away or whatever meager things he has to those poorer than him. “ I always wanted to help poor people and make this world a better place. You’re not hurt are you?”
He wishes he can be of help and cook, but he can’t cook and can’t see, but he helps whenever he could. “Kitchen? Do you need any help?”
Was it a far or near future, a future where AI has been discovered and created successfully. An AI which soon was able to manufactured into normal everyday life and like the invention of the smartphone, androids became a normal facet of life. Nearly everyone had one and if someone didn't have one they would be considered old school or poor.
Leanne, she fit into the poor category as she was just a waitress at a bar. She often gotten teased and hit on for not having one, with potential sugar daddies wanting to get her one just to get into her pants. She felt exhausted and overworked as she picked up extra shifts to be able to afford at least the down payment of one.
At last, the day came when she could afford to get one. The salesman noticed how out of place she was and how lost about all of the features so he stuck to her side at all times, in order to get a good commission. Somehow, he managed to convince her to get all of the upgrades and latest features available. All she wanted was a companion, a loving and semi-doting companion. One she could feel safe around and at least take care of the house and errands while she works.
She really didn't care about looks but admitted that she was partial to long hair and wanted a male model. With her savings completely drained, she made her down payment and she felt a part of herself die a little on the inside. The order was sent in and she was given an expected wait time.
The payments for the android... They seemed to be nearly as much as a house payment. She didn't live in a lavish house, just a small one near the worse parts of the city due to the cheap payment. She will just have to work as much as she can until her android arrives so she can afford the payments.
The day had finally came and the delivery man helped set up the spot for the android to go and recharge when he needed to, assuring her that it already knew who she was and what she looked like. After making sure that everything was plugged in and working, Leanne signed the papers and was left alone. She didn't know what he would look like and all she can do is wait for him to fully charge and to wake up for the first time.
It was a big box, almost human-sized when the delivery man brought to her door and dropped it in her living room. It weight almost like a human and the delivery man knew it must be an android since he delivered so many. After the papers are signed and he left, what's left is opening the big package box.
There's a lot of foam and plastic unwrapping. But he's fully equiped, wearing an all-white uniform with the company's logo (Cyberlife is the company he was made from), which is the standard and as advertised in the photo when she purchased him. He has long black hair, almond-shaped eyes, and is customized to her preference. As for personality, it was a gentle housekeeper and companion.
If she needed help, he comes with a book-like manual in how to use him. Basically, she can turn him on and off, set up apps, make lists, download games, whatever he could access based on her preference as he charge in the meanwhile. She can command him via her phone, computer, and voice recognition.
When he's fully charged, it's easy to tell by the blinking blue circle light on the side of his head. However, he can't wake up on his own, because she needs to activate him and turn him on, but she can set him up to wake up at a specific time to wake up on his own once she program him her specific schedule and figure out the switch to allow him to act on his own on autopilot, which is free will.
"..." It's a matter of commanding him by voice or tapping the settings as she's being alerted he is fully charged, sitting there ready to work.
The manual did help pass the time while he was charging, but also his looks. He looked so beautiful already. She goes to play with his settings, turning on the free will option and giving in the work day schedules.
When the blue light starts blinking, she tilts her head before reaching over slowly to touch it briefly before taking a couple steps back. Why? Why was her heart racing at this time? It's just an android and not a human.
"Wake up. You can wake up. Turn on." And okay, flipping through the book to make sure that she was saying the right commands to turn him on. Please oh please let him like her.
The blue light blinks and she'll find his black hair is long and soft. When she input her schedule, it was automatic. So he could wake up before her to help fix breakfast, assemble her clothes, and make sure she is ready so she could go to work. There are also tasks she can set up in him doing and not doing, but that can be adjusted.
When he opens and he sees her for the first, all the programs are set and he is ready. He rose up to stand on his feet. His expression is the same, but when he speaks, it's male and deep, pleasant and musical, his tenor to match the popular Asian idols from overseas.
He looks at her and smiles, "Hello, my name is Xingchen. Leanne, I'm sent by Cyberlife to help you. If there is any task you want me to do, you could tell me to get started. I already know your name, your address, your mobile, and your email. If there is anything you need to set-up, I can recommend a few options."
He lived with her for quite some time until it was almost a year. The scars of his surgery since the accident become long faded and healed over time. He stayed because it was a warm home, safe and protected from the winters and the dangers from being hunted and from the wild, and that he is grateful she took him in. Sometimes he went out in the morning to hunt as that is his fox instinct, but he often returned later in the evening and often with a gift of his prey and his catch of the day sometimes a rabbit, sometimes a fish he caught from the river, hoping she would cook the meat later.
Being a blind fox, he has no idea how to make money to help her. Money is tight, so they couldn't afford the surgery that can restore his eyesight and heal the vision defect. They set up a gofundme, a video channel of V-logs of their days and lives together that becomes viral and popular and acquired thousands of subscribers and support, and received some donations as a secondary source of income to save up for that surgery, that dream where one day he could finally see.
Otherwise, he is a happy fox as he could be. The guilt and pain of the accident were long forgotten and medical bills and debts were paid off over time, so they are both free and have each other for company and as mates. He's loyal and loving and he always waited for her at the right time when she returned home from work usually waiting in front of the house, greeting her with a sweet smile and his mischievous, foxy 'hehehe' laughs that made him a little famous on their v-log channel.
"Welcome home." He said, tail wagging in joy with a loving look. "I'm so happy you returned."
Pet AU for Nita
There was a snowstorm going on outside and had been going on for the past couple of days. Leanne was laying on the couch, lazing about, letting her tail sway behind her, doing her best to ignore the howling storm going on outside.
Re: Pet AU for Nita
Unfortunately, the weather had left her feeling pretty lethargic, which was nothing good.
She sighed internally as Leanne's fluffy tail hit her in the face one more time...
"Okay," she announced, trying to sit up properly.
"We are going to finish this report, no matter what! Are you with me?" she asked, turning in the direction of the next tail-brush pointedly.
Re: Pet AU for Nita
"But it's too cold. You don't have fur. We can stay inside and sleep by the fire."
Cat logic! Fight against it!
Re: Pet AU for Nita
However...
"I can become a cat whenever I want, you know," she pointed out.
"Just, not as fluffy as you."
Nita really wished she specialized in timeslides right now; an extra week where she could rest with her friend like this would be great...
But she'd been putting down this paper too long already, and she hated leaving work until the last minute.
Re: Pet AU for Nita
Okay, fine lets see about purring and trying to grab strands of Nita's hair in a playful manner will do to get her on Leanne's side of things.
"My fluff does keep me warmer. I can keep you warmer in here than out there."
She knows that Nita is a work-o-lic so this storm was perfect to make her master finally rest for a change.

Wolf-girl
But days and weeks goes by and she does eventually grow into her role, though she herself haven't allowed herself to get close to him. Though when a new person arrives, she doesn't stay too far away to make sure he is safe, nor does she ever run away. She will perform these duties to him nothing more, nothing less for as long as she wears the collar around her neck.

Android AU

Sounds good! This be the last tag?
Yup! We can always try this AU again
Blindfox AU-verse
