Oooo I like all of these ideas! Should we give the mer folk a more feral edge to them? Or make them more like humans?
- I decided to go with human like as the more lore I am writing for the feral, the less we can do the royal aspect. So we will losing the instinct vs. love/feelings aspect as well as the fishy aspect.
- Would this be in modern times or another time period, like from the Pirates of the Carrabien?
I thought of something with we go with Leanne being feral.
Instead of being the daughter of a king, lets say she can be a direct descendant of Poseidon. Merfolk could be seen as his children with no proof of it being real. This could also play into her abilities of controlling storms and maybe even the ocean itself.
And if we add elements of my lore, we could make her a handicapped mermaid which would make her more open to affection towards Saga. Saga would also have to work on trying to tame her as well.
- Are feral and are usually driven by the instinct to hunt and feed. Thought they do have enough intelligence to problem solve and form relationships.
- Pods are like a pack of lions. 1 male to many females. The females are the hunters while the males are the caretakers unless there is a big prey or the pod needs protection.
- Males have healing abilities as well as the ability to turn a human into a mermaid, though it rarely happens in the modern age. Females are more in tune with the ocean's currents and can sense/predict weather patterns and changes.
- Males have very high sex drives while females have none. None at all. They would rather laze around, play or hunt over sex. Due to this, the males have evolved to have long tails which they would quickly wrap around the female in order to keep her still long enough for the mating session to end. The first thrust will always be the hardest and sometimes the most painful as the way to the pussy is blocked by very harden scales, held together by powerful tail muscles. Due to this, the male will usually use their strongest thrust first in order to enter her as they would need a lot of strength to get past the initial barrier.
- A normal pod can be between 10 - 20 mermaids to one merman. Females will sometimes hunt other females to bring them into the pod if they get annoyed enough by the male.
- Mermaids do not have mating seasons as like humans, they can get pregnant at anytime.
- Merman when trying to initiate either sex or plain old courtship when not in the mood to just try outright mating. They would sing to the mermaid in mind and/or bring her gifts which could ranging from food or something shiny. This is used mainly to either establish a new bond, deepen one or basically be warning to the mermaid that he was targeting her to mate with right away.
- Unlike most animals, both big and strong males as well as the smaller and more intelligent mermen are equally desirable. Very rarely is there a merman that is born with both high intelligence and strength.
- Despite being feral in nature, males will not touch another merman's female and will often ignore her should she be away from her own pod. There is a bit of an honor code and society enough to not steal each other's mates.
- Mermaids can also sing, but their songs usually are more like a battle cry to get ready for a hunt. When hunting humans or any prey of the bigger scale, they would often send one mermaid to scout and see if it is worth hunting. If not, the scout will let the others know through a series of sounds. But if the prey is worth it and its a human, that is when the scout will sing her siren's song. The song will act like a beacon to the others to let them know that their current prey is safe to hunt.
- Mermen usually eat first once the hunting party returns and those who haven't gone has to wait until he is finished before getting their share.
- Mermen has enough strength in them that should they be needed to help with a prey or protecting a pod. They can launch themselves at a speed and strength akin to a 18-wheeler semi for the the stronger ones. They cannot attack like this often and after using it and finish the fight, they are weak and need to rest and eat a lot in order to regain it.
- Natural Predators: Orcas and Great White Sharks.
- Favorite prey: Humans.
- Their ideal homes are sunken ships/ship graveyards. Not only do they provide safety from their predators but if they are lucky, it will have rooms/beds that each member can claim as their own.
- If multiple pods are present in an area where a larger ship is sailing through, they would scout it out, look for for a merman with high intelligence to see if it would be worth attacking. It is not uncommon for multiple pods to attack a luxury cruise ship in order to sink it for not only the abundance of food on there but also space.
- Merfolk while show some territorial aspects for members of their pods, they are not territorial over living space and if the housing unit is big enough, multiple pods of merfolk can be seen living there.
- If a mermaid is handicapped in anyway, she is not allowed to join the others in the hunt, unless to scout. However, most handicapped mermaids usually stay behind and are untouched by the mermen when it comes to mating. Instead, they are used to basically fulfill his need for physical affection outside of mating. Mermaids who grow up in this role are usually more affectionate and unlike normal ones, are not picky to whom receive the affection.
- Merfolk are fiercely loyal to each other, even with no sex drive once a male has mated with a female, mermaids will only mate with that male. Once a mermaid has been marked up by a merman, other mermen will avoid that female as despite being predators, prefer to avoid fights among other mermen.
- Even though they cannot form human words, they can however mimic speech and no one can figure out how mermaids can sing their siren's songs in the native language of their prey. It cannot be determined if they are actually speaking the words or if their songs are tricking human brains into hearing words.
For one thing my mermaids are basically almost completely feral/animalistic with the mermen having all the sex drive while mermaids.... You have better luck with a sex doll and no amount of foreplay could change that. Just feed them and leave them alone and they will be happy. I have the males with the healing abilities as well as the ability to turn humans into merfolk and I was thinking in the shower why. Cause mermaids have all the aggressive abilities and hunt in packs and only males have those. Males have a hard time mating with females because there is no mating season so if he is in the mood, he will have to find a way to force himself on her. And there is no cuddling afterwards cause yeah, mermaids just find sex as annoying and if it wasn't due to the males high sex drive there will be none left. 1 merman can service up to 25 mermaids sexually thanks to their libido. So think of the males as forever thirsty and attention starved. And enterally "LOVE MEEEEEEEE!!!! D8" So the reason why they have the ability, is that well... Human females are cuddly after a good fucking. So after finding that out, kidnap one, change her into a mermaid so he can have both the sex and the cuddling. And the other mermaids in the pack would be grateful because then unless she gets knocked up, that will be less time for him to force himself on her. And mermen have long tails for the sole purpose of wrapping them around the mermaid and keep her still while he goes to town on her.
I blame my brain from the wee hours of the morning as I have no how this even came to be.
- Modern AU with mafia flavors. Leanne can be a don's daughter so in essence, she will be a princess of sorts. One flavor can be Irish, freshly immigrated from Ireland. Or can take place off of the coast of the Isles.
- She basically lives alone in a mansion and can have a greenhouse built with multiple swimming pools built in to house a merfolk. One very large pool and the multiple smaller pools filled with live fish/crab to feed said merfolk.
- I can try and dust out some of the mafia peeps I have started to write out to bring into it.
- Kidnapping, gross and bloodied threats can be a thing.
- A Hotel Artemis can be a thing in it as well.
- Leanne of course will do her best to keep the merfolk a secret cause of the whole, they are not real, they are fantasy creatures!
- only women of the family can run it. No one knows why the tech only responds to females.
- each one is underground and connected to a family mansion.
- the tech within is nano machines IE like in Trinity Blood, most surgeries can be performed remotely within the hotel room. Functing organs can also be "printed" by a machine.
- another family first discovered them before Leanne's forcefully took over them. Now the previous family helps smuggles parts and supplies in exchange for free/cheaper membership/ treatment
- because of women being the only ones who could use the tech. Kidnapping one who controls the hotel is basically making her and it hostage.
- Leanne's family is very powerful and rich due to the membership fees as well as the treatments. They don't really treat those who don't have a membership which has caused bad blood to form between them and other families.
- the main rules are no fighting, killing or harming other patients. As well as no weapons allowed and only members can enter.
- The hotel and the technologies within only accept women with a certain personality type. Otherwise none of the tech or equipment within will work. The way the family can tell from childhood if the girl is a good candidate is if the nano machines doesn't scar her but instead bury themselves in her.
- The chosen nurse cannot leave the hotel once she takes on the role, but can travel between the hotel and mansion.
- The hotel and tech within changes and evolves based on the nurse's personality, what she does and the type of treatments she performs.
- The hotel can "speak" to the nurse and only to her.
- No one has figured out that each of the hotels are supernatural in someway. Only those who are either supernatural themselves, the nurses or those with high spiritual power can sense it.
- The bond between nurse and hotel doesn't start forming until she swears into the role.
- Leanne can live in a small hut overlooking either the ocean/sea.
- She will be the oddball out her village/small town so if anything happened to her, hardly anyone would notice.
- She could meet the merman in question by sheer dumb luck while swimming, or he could save her from an accident. If the latter and going by the feral lore, it could raise the temptation of eating her due to the blood in the water over saving her (more of the instinct vs. feelings)
Plot ideas
- Saga is a captain / human in this tale
- Underwater kingdom with the sea king being Leanne's father / Leanne is a mermaid princess for that royal au flavor
- Will have to research Sinbad tales
- Selkie AU / abilities
- Mermaid abilities: Like controlling storms, predicting weather, helping the captain and his crew to avoid turbulence at sea
- Debating Saga being a merchant ship or navy and being part of a military fleet
- Being a pirate means he's a wanted criminal for all of this looting and stealing from other ships
