Well it was fruit that was supposedly cursed to have a devil inside of it, thus the name devilfruit. The particular devil inside the fruit, I ate, was the devil of resurrection. So when I died about a half a century ago, it brought me back to life. Unfortunately, it took an entire year for my soul to reconnect with my body, so by the time it did, I was nothing but bones.
